The weekend after Thanksgiving is typically one of the slowest of the year, and this year looks to continue the tradition. Ralph Breaks the Internet will take the top spot again, with only semi-wide release The Possession of Hannah Grace opening.
After the second largest ever Thanksgiving opening, Ralph should continue to perform well. It will likely be more frontoaded than the original, but drop right around 50% for $28 million.
The Grinch held well despite direct competition last week, and should leapfrog Creed for second place with around $16.5 million as it passes $200 million.
After a surprisingly strong showing last weekend, Creed II will likely fall a bit harder than its predecessor, as sequels often do. Whereas the first Creed dropped 49%, this installment should drop around 55% for $15.7 million.
Last weekend, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald had the worst drop in the top 10 by far, and it looks to fall hard again. The fantasy film will bring in around $13 million in its third weekend.
Following an impressive hold last weekend, Bohemian Rhapsody will round out the top five with another $7 million.
Outside the top five will be horror film The Possession of Hannah Grace, opening in 2,065 theaters. The last horror film to release was Halloween seven weeks ago, but Hannah is unlikely to light the box office on fire. It could perform anywhere in the $2.5-5 million range, but I am expecting $4.3 million.
